Cairo, the capital of Egypt is a buzzling metropolis home to over 8.1 million people.
Ancient people settled in locations near rivers. This means a group of people began to live in one place. The ancient Egyptians settled places along the Nile River more than 7,000 years ago. They called the Nile the “Great River.”
